Florida Market President Named Daniel Expands in Southeast
Birmingham, AL, October 1, 2007, Daniel Corporation announced that it has opened a new regional office in Jacksonville, Florida, furthering the company’s expansion plans within the Southeast. G. John Carey has been named president of Florida and will oversee all acquisition and development activities across the state.

Carey joins Daniel from Broad Street Partners where he served as a partner since August 2006. From December 2000 until January 2006, Carey served as president of Flagler Development Company after joining the company one year earlier as chief operating officer. At Flagler Carey oversaw an eight-million-square foot portfolio of office and industrial properties in major Florida markets and 5,500 acres of land for development. Carey joined Flagler from the St Joe Company, where he served as vice president, senior investment officer in charge of St Joe’s commercial development activities throughout Florida, the southeast and Texas.
After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Carey began his career as a Certified Public Accountant with Price Waterhouse. Carey acquired more than 20 years commercial real estate experience as a leasing and development executive with Trammell Crow Company and as president of Sabal Corporation, Stone & Webster’s real estate subsidiary.
In addition to the CPA designation, Carey is a licensed real estate broker in Florida. He is active in Urban Land Institute (ULI), and the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP). Additionally, he is on the Board of the Florida First Coast YMCA.
The Jacksonville office will be the second regional office expansion for the company. In 2004 Daniel opened a regional office in Atlanta, Georgia. Daniel Atlanta regional development projects include, The Plaza Midtown a mixed use condominium development which was completed in 2005. 12th & Midtown is a $2 billion showcase development which will deliver a major retail destination, a dynamic office environment luxury hotel suites and elegant in town living to Midtown Atlanta.
Daniel has recently been active in Florida, developing multi-family communities in the Jacksonville market. In 2004, Daniel developed the award winning apartment community Williams Walk, located in the Bartram Park area of Jacksonville. Williams Walk is a 380 unit apartment community that was sold and converted to condominiums prior to construction completion. Indigo, a 323 luxury unit complex also located in the growing Bartram Park began leasing units earlier this year.
