DANIEL CORPORATION HOLDS GROUNDBREAKING FOR SOMERBY OF WEST MOBILE

Mobile, Alabama, January 7, 2004 - The groundbreaking for Somerby of West Mobile, a senior residential community was held Wednesday, January 7, 2004 at 10:30.a.m. John Gorecki, Senior Vice President, Daniel Corporation and Al Worthington, President of Daniel Corporation gave the welcome and opening remarks. The Honorable Mike Dow, Mayor of the City of Mobile, along with Reggie Copeland, Sr., City Council President and Connie Hudson, District 6 Councilwoman, each spoke on behalf of the City of Mobile and participated in the groundbreaking. Others participating in the groundbreaking ceremony included Freeman E. Jockisch, District 2 Mobile County Commissioner, Jim Gorrie of Brasfield & Gorrie, the general contractor; Jay Weber of JBL Homes, garden home general contractor; B. T. Roberts, Roberts Brothers Realtors, garden home sales and marketing agents; Don Coleman of Rester & Coleman, project civil engineer; Shaw Flippen, Project Manager, and Charlie Tickle, CEO both of Daniel Corporation and Val Webb, Director of Development, Habitat for Humanity. Mr. Tickle, gave closing remarks and then presented Habitat for Humanity with the groundbreaking shovels.

Somerby of West Mobile will be similar to Somerby at University Park in Birmingham and Somerby at Jones Farm in Huntsville, Alabama, existing senior residential communities developed by Daniel in 1999. Somerby of West Mobile will include 136 independent living apartments, 16 for rent independent villas, 20 assisted living apartments, 24 Alzheimer care apartments and 56 garden homes. The garden homes will be available for pre-sale in February 2004 with initial closings scheduled for July 2004. The main community, which includes fitness, recreational, social and dining facilities, will open in April 2005.
